As Your
Body Relaxes,
Your Mind Empties
MY PHILOSOPHY
"The mind and body
are not separate.

What affects one,
affects the other."

At Against The Tide Massage Therapy, I believe in the healing power of touch. I am dedicated to providing personalized and effective treatments that promote relaxation, relieve muscle tension, and improve overall well-being. I believe that massage therapy is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle, and I am committed to helping my clients achieve optimal health and wellness, in the comfort of their own homes.
My name is Angela Lenna and I have been a licensed massage therapist since 2006 and have always practiced in a spa setting. I was very passionate about massage therapy, but found working in a spa to be very constricting. I could only use techniques offered by the spa, I had no control over my clientele, no control over policies or prices, or the quality of the experience that the clients underwent. I felt the communication with my clients was extremely limited and inadequate due to the time constraints of spa scheduling. I finally decided to do things my way, against the conventional practices of the massage industry. I decided to find my passion for massage therapy again. I am re-designing my massage career by eliminating the many restrictions I felt had been placed upon me, while simultaneously introducing my clients to a fresh and creative approach to massage therapy.

I am committed to providing the highest quality of care to each and every one of my clients. I only offer a 75-minute interval session, all hands on. Travel, set-up, and take-down time does not interfere with my client's actual session. An entire appointment may take up to two to three hours, depending on the circumstances of that particular appointment. The hands-on time, however, remains at 75 minutes and each session is a flat rate of $185 (50% deposit required to hold an appointment). This flat rate includes the travel fee (within serviceable areas), the session fee, and the tip.
There is no extra charge for "add-ons". Aromatherapy, deeper pressure (I do not do "deep tissue"), hot stones, scented oils, and dry brushing are just some things that may be incorporated into any massage session. My clients must have somewhat of an open mind because every session will be a different experience. They are not booking a "Hot Stone Massage" or a "Swedish Massage", they are simply booking the session and paying for the time, leaving the elements of the session to unfold naturally. That does not mean the client is not able to make requests or to participate in their session, on the contrary.
A client, for example, has an occupation that requires them to be on their feet all day. They may be interested in contributing a considerable amount of time of a particular session on their feet: a nice sugar scrub, followed by hot towels, and finishing up with a relaxing Tradition Thai Foot Massage.
The remarkable aspect to my approach is that despite the fact that each therapy session is the same price for the same length of time, how that time is spent is a distinct experience each and every time, for each and every client.

75 MINUTE FREE-FLOW MASSAGE
The concept of the 75 minute session was born from my experience of working in a spa setting where the typical massage therapy session offered is either 50-60 minutes or 80-90 minutes (offered at different prices). The session time usually includes not only client intake, but the client's dressing time as well. The actual massage session would realistically be 45 to 75 minutes. I discovered that the more massages I performed, 75 minutes seemed to become my magic number, the perfect session length, in my opinion, for both client and therapist. The inclusive, flat rate of $185 is to simplify the financial aspect for everyone, giving more energy to focus on the session.
My Free-Flow Massage Session is a combination treatment that incorporates traits of classic massage modalities that uses alternating light to deep pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension, and improve circulation. Every session is a unique experience, tailor-made for you every time. One of the many joys of having an at-home massage is that you control your environment and are able to personalize your session in a way that would never be possible in a spa. You are free to prepare for your session by using your own favorite scented candle(s) or aromatherapy. You may also provide your own sheets or blanket; or even a pillow to put under your legs, instead of the bolster, which may be more comfortable. The possibilities are endless once you open your mind to the process of collaboration. You are able to shape and to participate in your own massage session, making it truly your own.
How To Prepare
For Your
At-Home Massage
-
I will arrive 20 to 30 minutes prior to your appointment time to set up.
-
You can help set the stage for your at-home massage session by eliminating as many distractions and disturbances as possible, including electronics, pets, and people.
-
Please clear an area large enough to accommodate the massage table, approximately 8' x 6'. I will also need access to an electrical outlet.
-
Please notify me as soon as possible of any changes since booking your session. This could be any new medical or skin conditions, and/or any changes to the session's location, including any additional people being present or a broken A/C unit, for example.
Policies
Please note that once you have booked a session, it means that I have reserved time in the schedule to exclusively travel to you. All appointments require a valid credit card on file, as well as a 50% deposit, due to limited appointments and the high demand of services. Canceling or rescheduling your appointment less than 24 hours before it's scheduled to take place will result in a loss of your 50% deposit. In case I cannot reach you when I arrive, or I feel unsafe at your location, I reserve the right to charge up to 100% for the session.
To avoid a cancellation fee, you must cancel more than 24 hours in advance to give me the opportunity to fill your appointment time. In case of extenuating circumstances, illness or family emergency, the 50% deposit will be credited toward a future appointment. If, for any reason, I must cancel your scheduled session, your 50% deposit will either be refunded or credited toward a future appointment.
Arriving late to an appointment may result in loss of time from the massage session. Please let me know as soon as possible to any changes in your schedule so that we can make the necessary adjustments to avoid this. I do regret that multiple cancellations and/or tardiness will result in being blocked from booking any future sessions. Distractions and/or not having an area prepared that results in the delaying of my being able set-up does constitute tardiness and may result in loss of time from the massage session. Tardiness on my part will not affect the hands-on time that the client is entitled to, even if that means adding on additional time to a later massage session.
The most important thing
you can do today
is to schedule time
to recharge your energy
and
replenish your soul.

You deserve it.
